He knew he’d do anything to save her, he just didn’t think he’d get to keep her.

Tessa Milner never had much, but when she lost her mom, she lost everything. Her dad became a mean drunk and lost his job. What little the high school dropout makes bussing tables helps keep the lights on and food in the fridge, but she has little hope of ever escaping. When her dad takes things too far, and Tessa ends up in the hospital, she finds a hero in an unlikely place. A man she’s had a crush on since she was a kid, someone she’s always idolized. And now he’s here, by her side, and doesn’t seem ready to leave anytime soon.

Dr. Morgan Hilliard has felt drawn to Tessa ever since he first noticed the woman she was becoming, with curves that begged to be touched. He’s wanted to ask her out more times than he can count, but because of their age difference, he’s tried to keep his distance. The small town of Blossom Creek might be accepting of an interracial couple, but their nearly twenty year age gap is sure to set tongues wagging. Now things are different. Tessa needs him, whether she’ll admit it or not, and Morgan will do anything to keep her safe -- even something as crazy as marrying her.

ADULT EXCERPT

“I didn’t realize when I agreed to come home with you that I would disrupt your life. As long as I’m here, you’re stuck having an unwanted guest, and you’re nice enough to feel obligated to entertain me. You’ve been so sweet to me, and I can’t tell you how much I appreciate it, but it’s not fair for you to put your life on hold. How are you going to go on dates while I’m here?”

Morgan came closer, stopping in front of her. He reached down and took her hands, gently lifting her to her feet. Tessa looked up at him, worried what she would find in his eyes. She’d expected resignation, not… there was a warmth there, something she’d never seen with anyone else before. His gaze caressed her face as his hand slid around her back, pulling her closer.

“I’m not putting my life on hold,” he said, his tone brooking no argument.

Her heart thumped in her chest as her soft curves were pressed against his hard body. Tessa’s hands slid up his arms, resting on his biceps. She felt the muscles flex under her fingertips, and she’d never been more tempted to remove the man’s shirt. She’d be willing to bet his body was hard and sculpted. Morgan slowly lowered his head, giving her plenty of time to pull away, but Tessa wanted his kiss. She’d dreamed of that and so much more. The nights she’d lain awake, her body aching, it had been Morgan she’d wanted to feel inside of her.

His lips brushed against hers, softly at first, then more demanding. Tessa surrendered to him, lost to his taste, the feel of his arms around her, the scent of his musky cologne. Everything about Morgan drew her in and made her want more. He pulled her tighter against him and she felt the ridge of his cock press against her belly. Tessa trembled in his arms, her panties growing damp. An ache built inside of her, one that she knew only Morgan could satisfy.

He groaned as he rubbed against her, his tongue flicking against hers. To know that he wanted her the way she wanted him made everything feel perfect in her world, at least for the moment. Tessa knew she would give him whatever he wanted, because what she wanted most was him. She didn’t care if it was only the one time. She needed him more than her next breath.

Tessa reached between their bodies and pressed her hand against  his cock, sliding her palm up and down the ridge. Morgan growled into her mouth and backed her against the bed. His hand slid over the curve of her ass, his fingers stroking between her legs. Tessa gasped and her knees went weak.
Morgan pulled away, his chest heaving, his eyes dark with passion.

“I’m sorry, Tessa, I shouldn’t have done that.”

He was taking it back? The best kiss of her life?

“I’m not sorry,” she said. “I didn’t want you to stop.”

Morgan groaned and closed his eyes, a pained expression crossing his face. Tessa boldly reached for him again, her hand palming him through the denim of his jeans. His eyes flashed open and the heat in their depths nearly scorched her.
